My First Half Marathron!

I can't believe I finish my first half, I ran the Women Rock on Saturday, I have been training my now smaller butt for this race, and to my surprise I did great, I was not the fastest or the slowest I did my best I made my goal which was to run it until 3 hours and I finished it in 2:48. I started the race with my sister she was running her first marathron and I stayed with her for the first 2 miles and than dropped back I notice I have been starting my races out way to fast and wanted to make sure I would finish and not hurt myself. I did stay in the 11:30 minute mile pace group for most of the race and than had to Pee well that was a challenge in its self with my running belt skirt and making sure it was all in place to start running again. But with it all said and done I was than with the 12:30 minute mile pace group I was doing my best to get a head of them but at the end they finished before me and I wasn't able to keep up not because I was tired but because my IT band kicked in.
I do believe I would have finished it sooner but my IT band kicked in for the first time at mile 11 and well that was it for my running the last two miles, I walked and ran just a little bit, but to my family cheering me on and have my wonderful husband running the last bit on the side as I finished was the best.
I than headed over to the medical tent and got some ice and pain meds and was all good to go, I found that I did not sweat as much as I should of, not sure why this is very new to me and I have to do some looking into of why and what I should do for my next race.
We stayed to watch my sister finish and see her at the end of it all we both finished and are now taking this week off to than start next week training for the Goofy in January, I do have to say that I am a little concerned with that race I was pretty sore after this half and not sure how I would be able to run a half and than the next day run a full but that is what my training is for and I will do it!

Finding it within me

How do I find the time I need to get my run in and do everything I need to do in the day?  For some morning time is the best for others like me I find running at night usually in the gym is what I can do or during the day when I can use childcare.  I am just not that morning person now on the other hand my husband is that morning person who will wake up at 4 to get out the door and run.
I like to sleep in a little bit with my boys and than get going.  Now since we have been back in MN I am able to leave my boys with my parents and go running the catch with that one is that I can't do my long runs when my parents are watching my kids.
Last night I needed to do 9 miles which for me is alot I am working on my very first half on Sept 1st, now I have done 9 miles before I actually did 11 for the tough mudder and it killed me I was done at mile 9 but I kept going and finished I got my orange headband and my wonderful t-shirt. Back to my 9 miles for last night, I was almost done when my phone rang and it was of course my mom asking when I was coming home, I had a half mile left and I would be able to get home. I was only one for 2.5 hours not bad I ran the 9 miles under 2 hours which my goal for the half is 2.30.
My biggest goal is the Goofy race in January that we have already sign up for, I am scared to death that I won't finish.  I am doing the Jeff Galloway training and will be ready just plain old scared.
I did find it within me last night to do all my miles and finish strange and not that tried.

Torchlight 5k

I have been training for a while now actually it feels like I never stop training for a race. Anyway I ran the Torchlight 5k last night and did my best PR 34.56  I was hoping for 30 but my right foot has been giving me problems and was hurt I am very happy with my time and actually thought I would be much slower than I was.  I kept up with my sister and two friends for the first 1.5 miles and than had to slow down I came in only 3 minutes behind them which I am happy about as well.
I find that I need to run more outside but the reality for it for me is that with three little kids going to the gym and using childcare is what I can do and run on the treadmill.  I am finding that I really love running and I love what it's doing to my body. So far I am down 15lbs and looking great and feeling great.  I have started weights as well and swimming again, I forgot how much I actually love working out.
