My First Half Marathron!

I can't believe I finish my first half, I ran the Women Rock on Saturday, I have been training my now smaller butt for this race, and to my surprise I did great, I was not the fastest or the slowest I did my best I made my goal which was to run it until 3 hours and I finished it in 2:48. I started the race with my sister she was running her first marathron and I stayed with her for the first 2 miles and than dropped back I notice I have been starting my races out way to fast and wanted to make sure I would finish and not hurt myself. I did stay in the 11:30 minute mile pace group for most of the race and than had to Pee well that was a challenge in its self with my running belt skirt and making sure it was all in place to start running again. But with it all said and done I was than with the 12:30 minute mile pace group I was doing my best to get a head of them but at the end they finished before me and I wasn't able to keep up not because I was tired but because my IT band kicked in.
I do believe I would have finished it sooner but my IT band kicked in for the first time at mile 11 and well that was it for my running the last two miles, I walked and ran just a little bit, but to my family cheering me on and have my wonderful husband running the last bit on the side as I finished was the best.
I than headed over to the medical tent and got some ice and pain meds and was all good to go, I found that I did not sweat as much as I should of, not sure why this is very new to me and I have to do some looking into of why and what I should do for my next race.
We stayed to watch my sister finish and see her at the end of it all we both finished and are now taking this week off to than start next week training for the Goofy in January, I do have to say that I am a little concerned with that race I was pretty sore after this half and not sure how I would be able to run a half and than the next day run a full but that is what my training is for and I will do it!
